Xinjiang Agricultural University Hosts Symposium on Cultivation of Digital-Intelligent Talent and New Quality Productive Forces·Agricultural Green Innovation and Sustainable Development at 2025 China-Central Asia Industry-University-Research-Application Conference
On the morning of May 13, the symposium titled Cultivation of Digital-Intelligent Talents and New Quality Productive Forces·Agricultural Green Innovation and Sustainable Development under the 2025 China-Central Asia Industry-University-Research-Application Conference was held at the Laomanchéng campus of Xinjiang Agricultural University (XJAU). The event was organized by the Education Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and other institutions, and co-hosted by XJAU and its partner universities.
Prof. Zheng Wenxin, vice president of XJAU presided over the symposium. Mr. Hailati, deputy director-general of Education Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, delivered an opening speech. He expressed hopes that universities in Xinjiang would leverage this platform to further consolidate the foundation of cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in agricultural technology and green development, and to jointly forge a new chapter of regional collaborative innovation and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Prof. Xie Shuqing, Party Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Agricultural University, delivered a speech. He emphasized the tremendous potential for cooperation between China and Central Asian countries in fields such as agricultural technology, green economy, and talent cultivation. He expressed hopes that all parties could collaborate on cutting-edge technologies and practices in areas including green agricultural technologies, smart agriculture, digital economy-driven agricultural industries, and ecological coordination in arid regions. Furthermore, he proposed exploring international cooperation mechanisms under multi-stakeholder partnerships and advancing the cultivation of digital-intelligent talents, with the goal of deepening educational exchanges and collaboration between Xinjiang and countries along the Belt and Road, ultimately delivering more practical and tangible outcomes.
Academician Chen Wei, president of Jiangnan University, addressed the symposium. He emphasized Jiangnan University’s commitment to strengthening collaborative exchanges with other higher education institutions, aiming to cultivate more outstanding talents and achieve groundbreaking innovations in the fields of digital-intelligent talent development, agricultural green innovation, and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Prof. Xie Shuqing signed two agreements: the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Shandong Agricultural University and Xinjiang Agricultural University with Prof. Leng Changjian, president of Shandong Agricultural University; the Cooperation Agreement between Xinjiang Agricultural University and Xinjiang Zihua Shengkai Wanmu Yuan Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd. with Ms. Ji Jianwen, Chairperson of Xinjiang Zihua Shengkai Wanmu Yuan Import and Export Trade Co., Ltd.
The symposium centered on cutting-edge technologies and practical applications in fields such as green agricultural technologies, smart agriculture, digital economy-driven agricultural industries, and ecological coordination in arid regions. Participants explored international cooperation mechanisms under multi-stakeholder partnerships and strategies for advancing digital-intelligent talent cultivation to address global agricultural challenges.
Academic leaders from universities in Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia delivered keynote speeches, engaging in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge agricultural technologies and innovative practices. Their exchanges provided fresh insights to advance agricultural green innovation and sustainable development strategies.
Keynote presentations were delivered by the following experts including Prof. Zhang Hongrong, vice president of Tarim University; Mr. Wang Gongmin, vice chairperson of the National Steering Committee for Veterinary Professional Degree Graduate Education; Ms. Chiara Cevoli, associate professor at the University of Bologna, Italy; Dr. Zha Guiting, researcher at Nanjing Agricultural University; Academician Hikmat Hisoriyev from the Institute of Botany, Plant Physiology, and Genetics, National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan; Prof. Xu Junzeng, Dean of the College of Agricultural Science and Engineering, Hohai University; Prof. Li Qiao from the College of Water Resources and Civil Engineering, XJAU, and Prof. Su Xiujuan from the College of Agronomy, XJAU.
